Thomasville City Manager Alan Carson has named Chris White as Utilities Superintendent for the City of Thomasville. The appointment is effective May 20, 2019.
“Chris has been with the City of Thomasville for more than twenty-two years,” said Carson. “During that time, he has gained invaluable experience in many areas of utilities operation, including electric, water, wastewater, natural gas and telecommunications. I have full confidence in Chris and his ability to lead our enterprise operations.”
White is a Thomasville native and second generation City of Thomasville employee. He joined the City in 1996 as an Electric Technician with the Technology Resources Division after serving almost a decade at a publicly held telecommunications company. Since that time, he has served in numerous managerial capacities of the City of Thomasville’s utilities, telecommunications and technology operations. Most recently, White has served as the Assistant Utilities Superintendent. He also maintains affiliations with numerous professional organizations and boards, including a recent appointment by Lt. Governor Cagle to serve on the Senate Committee for Advanced Communications Technologies and Use of State and Local Government Right of Way Policy Modernization.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to continue serving this organization and our community as Utilities Superintendent,” said White. “Through my years working with the City of Thomasville, I’ve gained a comprehensive understanding of our utility operations, and I understand the long term financial challenges of our municipal utility. I also have immense respect for the Team Thomasville members who I’m privileged to work with every day. Together, we’ll continue to move forward with the commitment to professional excellence that is the hallmark of our organization.”
