Fall is in the air and we’re welcoming the change of seasons with our “Boos and Blues” First Friday Sip and Stroll on October 5th from 6:00-10:00 p.m. in Downtown Thomasville.
From 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., bring the family for a bite to eat at one of Downtown’s many amazing restaurants and shop around as the stores stay open late. “Local merchants are setting the tone for the fall season with all new merchandise and in-store promotions while extending their business hours for this event,” says April Norton, Main Street and Business Development Director for the City of Thomasville. First Baptist Church will also have some fun free activities for kids during their Front Porch Party, and they invite you to stop by for a visit. “This event is designed to bring generations together to enjoy a full night in Downtown Thomasville. It’s a great boost to our local economy and an opportunity to experience a beautiful evening in Downtown Thomasville,” says Norton.
Order a beer or wine to-go and see what’s happening on-the-bricks as various musical performers keep you entertained while you explore the shops and boutiques. “We have a really diverse group of talented local musicians lined up for this month,” says Dustin Infinger, Events Manager for the City of Thomasville. “So come out early and explore the Thomasville music scene.”
As the sun sets, join us at The Ritz Amphitheater as performer David Gerald takes the stage from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. “Gerald is going to give Thomasville one fantastic show; his Blues-Infused Rock and Soul style is really going to resonate with the crowd,” says Infinger. This Detroit, Michigan based singer-songwriter with Southern roots just dropped a new album this year in which he wrote, produced, mixed and performed the instrumentation on the majority of each track.
“Local vendors will also set up shop on the grounds to bring a taste of downtown to the Amphitheater, including Hypo gourmet ice pops from Smith Collective, artisan pizza from AJ Moonspin and rolled ice cream from Kreamkles,” says Norton. Surrounding businesses are also keeping their doors open late so you can pop in for a bite or beer without missing the show. “We’ll also have lawn games out for the kids and You’re Maker is hosting a pumpkin face decorating contest with excellent prizes at 7:30 p.m.,” adds Infinger.
First Friday Sip and Strolls are free and open to the public. Street bands perform from 6:00-8:00 p.m. throughout downtown, followed by the main stage show in The Ritz Amphitheater from 8:00-10:00 p.m. For more information, visit Thomasvillega.com or call the Thomasville Visitors Center at 229-228-7977.
