THOMASVILLE RECEIVES $750K FOR WATER/WASTEWATER IMPROVEMENTS

Thomasville has received a 2018 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant in the amount of $750,000 from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), which administers the program on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Thomasville was one of 60 Georgia communities awarded this year. CITY BUDGET TO BE PRESENTED TO COUNCIL

The City of Thomasville will hold a public hearing on Monday, December 3, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. to receive public comments on the City’s proposed budget for 2019. The budget is scheduled to be presented to City Council on Monday, December 10th. The proposed budget is $122,210,475 and, for the seventh straight year, includes no funding from property taxes. TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE FOR REMINGTON AVENUE

Beginning November 28th, motorists traveling Remington Avenue between West Jackson Street and Fletcher Street should exercise extreme caution as construction crews will be milling the existing pavement in preparation for resurfacing to begin on Monday, December 03, 2018. The City of Thomasville has announced upcoming utility work that will impact travelers along Fleming Street next week. Fleming, between West Jackson Street and Campbell Street, will be closed to thru traffic for utility work beginning Wednesday, November 28, 2018, through Thursday, November 29th. CNS CUSTOMERS IMPACTED BY LARGE TELEPHONE OUTAGE IN GEORGIA

CNS telephone customers in all communities began experiencing trouble with their telephone service Monday afternoon that was a result of a larger outage that impacted 29 areas in Georgia. The issues were first reported around 3:30 p.m. and were resolved at 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 20th.
