The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Thomasville for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2021. This Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition for excellence in state and local government financial reporting and is given to government organizations that go beyond the minimum requirements to produce comprehensive annual financial reports that are clear and transparent.

Thomasville also received an Award of Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR). The PAFR is a short-form report that provides summarized information about the City of Thomasville’s financial activities, high-level overviews of financial standings, and a general outline of where revenues come from and how they are spent.

“These achievements recognize our Chief Financial Officer Ashlely Cason and our entire Financial Services Department for their excellence in accounting and financial reporting,” said City Manager Alan Carson. “This recognition also confirms our high level of transparency and controlled spending to further build community trust in our financial activities.”
