OPERATOR III, WASTEWATER TREATMENT

Employee must have a strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently or as a team member. Must be able to work in inclement weather as well as confined spaces when required. Will be on call after training period. Some Holidays and weekend shifts. Employee must have a Class 3 Wastewater Certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment.

EOP/CDL, WASTEWATER DEPARTMENT

Candidate will operate equipment such as backhoes, excavator, trenchers, dump truck, vac-con, sewer camera system and pipe fusion equipment. The candidate must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions; knowledge of tools associated with utility systems; respond to emergency calls after hours within 30 minutes; handle on-call duties after training period; read and interpret blueprints; assist in installing, repairing and maintaining sewer mains and lines. Candidate must be able to adapt to working in cold, wet and hot weather.

One year of pipeline construction, equipment operation, plumbing, or related experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Candidate must have a valid Georgia CDL or the ability to obtain one within six months.

BROADBAND INSTALLER APPRENTICE, CNSNEXT

Candidate must be able to perform new cable installations from the system tap to the customer’s equipment interface. This includes aerial/underground drops and inside wiring to customer’s video, telephone and data devices. Candidate must be familiar with the various types of equipment utilized by CNS and customer owned equipment. Candidate must be capable of heavy lifting and ladder climbing to heights greater than 25 feet. Candidate must be capable of troubleshooting and repairing customer problems and be able to take after hour calls on a rotational basis

POLICE OFFICER, THOMASVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT

The City of Thomasville is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Georgia certification is preferred, though not required. Applicants must be at least 21 before or by graduation from the academy, possess a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license and able to pass a criminal background and physical fitness assessment test to apply.

This position will perform traditional duties, including, patrolling specific districts by foot or automobile, handling public complaints, arresting violators of the law, responding to accidents, issuing the necessary summons or tickets when appropriate, preparing/compiling reports and maintaining police records. Additionally, Thomasville Police Officers are required to participate in Community Oriented Policing programs that will require extensive interaction with the community.

Excellent benefits! Starting pay, for uncertified Police Recruit attending the Georgia Police Academy is $17.45 per hour or annual salary of $38,110. GA Certified Police Officers w/no experience and recruit officer who graduates from the academy starting pay is $18.50 per hour or $40,404. Additional educational incentive pay is $1,500.00 for Associates and $3,000.00 for Bachelor’s degree in related field of work. FRONT DESK OFFICER, THOMASVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT

Position held by a Sworn Police officer certified by Georgia Post Council capable of full duty and able to carry out duties of a police officer. EOP/CDL, SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT

Candidate will be required to operate heavy equipment in all types of weather and conditions. The operator is assigned a route and must meet the equipment and demands of the route. Experience in the operation of Front Loader, Side Loader, Grapple Hook and Roll Off is preferred. All applicants must have a minimum of a Class B CDL license. The candidate is also required to work long hours and on weekends and holidays as needed.

REFUSE COLLECTOR, SOLID WASTE

This position is responsible for collecting and loading refuse into collection vehicles; painting solid waste containers, cleaning solid waste containers and other general labor as required. Employee assists in the disposal operation at the landfill and cleans and services collection vehicles. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and willing to work in adverse weather conditions.

UTILITY SERVICE TECH I, UTILITY SERVICES

Performs a variety of duties pertaining to consumption data collection of gas, water and electric meters to provide monthly readings for utility customers. This includes meter reads, check slips, consumption complaint orders, delinquency cut outs, cut ins and general utility work orders. Position requires weekly on-call rotation within six months of employment.

TREE TRIMMER, ELECTRIC

Candidate will be responsible for tree trimming and removing trees around high voltage lines and equipment. Must have prior tree trimming experience working from aerial devices as well as tree climbing with ropes and tree gaffs. Candidate will be required to assist with line construction and/or storm damage restoration.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT, FINANCE

Candidate will perform the more complex and responsible professional accounting work, including auditing, analyzing, and verifying financial records, preparing financial and statistical reports, providing information to CFO and staff regarding accounting practices and procedures, and reconciling general ledger accounts. Must have experience in accounts payable, general ledger, account reconciliation and financial statement preparation. Experience in governmental or fund accounting is preferred. Previous experience on computerized accounting software, Excel spreadsheets and automated financial systems is required. ASSISTANT CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, FINANCE

Under the direct guidance and supervision of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), candidate will manage, plan and direct all financial operations for the City which includes Payroll, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Accounting and Grants. Will assist CFO with developing plans for the company’s financial growth by evaluating and managing financial risk; coordinates technical and financial information and communications between the division, other departments, and external agencies regarding accounting, purchasing, accounts payable and grant policies and procedures.

FIREFIGHTER, THOMASVILLE FIRE RESCUE

Get your start in a challenging new career! Go as far as you want in the fire service! We’ll train you to be a Firefighter and EMT and get you the training, education, and certifications you need to be successful as a career firefighter. Once hired you will attend a Georgia Fire Academy (GFA) class. This ten-week course consists of 425 hours of rigorous training that includes classroom-based lecture and practical skills building sessions. You will receive transportation to the training facility, and a salary while attending the academy. There you will earn your Firefighter 2 (NPQ)/Haz-Mat Awareness and Operations Level certifications. Once you graduate, we further your education with your EMT (National) certifications within the first two years. UTILITY RESPONSE CENTER APPRENTICE OPERATOR, UTILITY RESPONSE CENTER (URC)

Candidate must be a detail-oriented person and should have computer experience including MS Office. A background in utilities is desired, but not a requirement. Candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting customers issues in (but not limited to) the following areas: electric, gas, water, wastewater, cable, telephone, street and ROW issues, customer billing and service issues. Candidate will take delinquent payments and set up new accounts, dispatch crews in all utility areas including electric and cable outages. Must be willing to work shifts and will be required to fill vacant shifts and work large outage events beyond regular schedule. Candidate will use SCADA to tag electric crews, operate water system and monitor and respond to alarms. Candidate must become familiar with individual departments operating procedures as they relate to URC duties on behalf of said departments. Must become ITS and SCADA certified through MEAG. Candidate will identify individual trouble tickets and the correct completion of each; will identify the different SCADA screens, including correct interpretation of the data shown on each; will collect and copy reports for the different departments; will read electric distribution maps and the individual feeder designations enabling the operator to tag crews to correct feeders according to their locations.

Candidate will be on stand-by 24/7 for URC management of storm or emergency restoration for utility services if needed.

NETWORK SECURITY ANALYST, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Under minimal supervision, responsible for monitoring and maintaining the corporate infrastructure security through the use and management of various security applications and appliances. The Network Security Analyst responds to and documents security incidents and maintains the highest level of competency in the security field through continued education.

Should have a minimum of an associate degree in a technical field or certificate in cybersecurity with at least 3 to 6 years of experience in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, information security, networking, or related technical field. The Human Resources Generalist will lead many of the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department. Employee receives direct supervision from the Human Resources Manager and is expected to work independently. TAX COORDINATOR, CUSTOMER CARE

Employee in this position receives supervision from the Customer Service Manager. Assists with processing bills, notices, delinquent notices and levies for property tax, and special assessments. Employee must have the ability to understand the annual tax calculation process and procedures and must understand the process for ad valorem taxes, digest changes and corrections reported by assessor’s office and can process the changes. Employee will provide tax and special assessment information for attorneys for closings on real estate sales and transfers; will assist in the processing of the tax sale for delinquent taxes and must be able to explain notices, review billing information and payment history to customers.

Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent with three years of experience in the related field; must have good oral and written communication skills and must be able to deal with customers effectively and in a professional manner. SENIOR MARKETING ASSOCIATE, MARKETING

The Senior Marketing Associate will assist with developing and implementing marketing plans and communication initiatives for the City of Thomasville, including city utility services such as electric, natural gas, water, wastewater, and solid waste. Also responsible for developing and implementing marketing plans for CNSNext services for Cairo, Camilla, Moultrie, and Thomasville. Assist with developing and implementing marketing plans and communication initiatives for destination marketing. This position also includes assisting with planning and implementing city-wide customer and community functions and working with city departments to identify opportunities for community outreach and public engagement.

Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and/or five years of increasingly responsible marketing experience. FLIGHT LINE OPERATOR, MUNICIPAL AIRPORT

The primary duties of the position of FLIGHT LINE OPERATOR (FLO) will directly involve the handling and servicing of aircraft of all types. This will include, but not be limited to, fueling operations, marshaling of aircraft of all types to and from parking areas, as well as moving aircraft under tow out of and into storage hangers, placement and operation of Ground Power Units and Lavatory-Service Carts, to name a few. Airport Radio Communications will be an acquired skill. Greeting and working with Customers/Passengers in a professional and friendly manner will be required. Basic Office Skills such as processing Fuel Orders and Fuel Sales will be an acquired skill.

Secondary Duties will involve the basic operation and care of Field Maintenance Equipment of various types, along with the basic inspection and lite maintenance of said equipment. Must be willing to work flexible schedules, which may include weekends and various holidays. The majority of the work activity will be outside in a variety of weather and temperature conditions. Lifting requirements will generally be light to moderate in nature.

FIRE RESCUE ADMINISTRATION COORDINATOR, FIRE RESCUE

This position will assist with conducting and managing the Fire Rescue Department’s administrative functions, such as organizational planning and assessment, resource coordination, data analysis/research, records keeping, reporting, business communications, public interaction, and purchasing.

The Fire Rescue Administration Coordinator is assigned to the Fire Rescue Administration Division and will perform a variety of complex and confidential duties for the Fire Chief and other assigned senior-level management positions within the department; will relieve management of administrative responsibilities, including, investigating and answering complaints and providing assistance in resolving operational and administrative problems; will prepare reports that present and interpret data, identify alternatives and provide recommendations; will coordinate all Fire and Life Safety events; will go into the community and teach Fire and Life Safety education and will attend public meetings or hearings and be required to take and produce minutes for such meetings along with monthly command staff meetings.

This employee is required to have thorough knowledge of department rules, policies and procedures, and is responsible for applying this knowledge independently when dealing with the public and employees of the department. An associate degree or higher in office administration is preferred but not required. Should have at least four years of experience providing administrative support to a senior-level executive.
