The IT Director provides leadership, vision, and management to the Information Technology department; is responsible for providing day to day supervision for the Network Administrators, IT Project Manager, IT Compliance Coordinator, IT Support Manager and IT Application Support Manager; works with IT staff to ensure the department complies with the standards and processes that are defined for Information Technology; act as key escalation point for all IT issues. Ensures the department maintains the resources to meets all organizational goals, objectives and expectations of City Leadership.

The successful candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science or management information systems (MIS) with 5+ years of management experience in an IT environment. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers; must possess good oral/written communication skills and must have strong analytical and logical problem solving skills. Candidate must have strong working knowledge of computer networking and software applications.

Starting salary is based on experience. Open until filled.


This position is responsible for all of the duties to include but not limited to the oversight and management of Thomasville Utilities Electric Distribution, including, Engineering, Operations and Warehouse. The position has oversight for goal setting, policy development, budget management, leadership, staff development and contract management.

Candidates should have extensive knowledge and understanding of national electrical codes, industry standards and distribution construction techniques. Must have a BA or EE degree and 10 years of increasing responsibility with considerable management experience in Electric Utilities. Should have knowledge of Engineering principles and standards. Must have strong organizational and project management skills.

The Customer Care Specialist is, in many cases, the first line of contact for customer and community questions. Because of this, it is important that the person in this position projects a positive, helpful attitude when answering questions by telephone, in person or via email. The position will handle inbound and outbound phone interactions while providing exceptional customer service and education about utility services. The position should be capable of answering billing questions and accurately entering work orders and orders for service. Listens to customers and resolves all issues and complaints. Must be highly reliable, have excellent communications skills and be able to work well in fast paced environment.

Starting salary is $13.25/hr. Closing date is December 20th.


It is the responsibility of the Administrative Assistant to welcome callers, customers and visitors, greeting them professionally and warmly. As the first person many of our visitors and customers see or speak with, this position is responsible for making a positive impression, offering first line assistance as to office locations, services provided, and general City-related information. In addition to serving as the City’s welcome agent, this position is also responsible for managing the customer flow to various customer service departments and is also responsible for answering calls to the switchboard.

The ability to interact well with others, including co-workers and customers, is necessary. Must communicate effectively with customers both orally and in writing and must be able to resolve problems in a timely manner. Strong knowledge of operation of computer and Microsoft Office.

Starting salary is $12.25/hr. Closing date is December 20th.


Candidate must have or be able to obtain class A CDLs within six months. Must have construction experience and knowledge of construction equipment. Must be able to complete paperwork, follow oral and written instructions and be dependable. Candidate must be able to respond to emergencies within 30 minutes and handle “on call” duties after training.

Starting salary is $14.25/hr. Closing date is December 20th.


Candidate must be a detail-oriented person and should have computer experience including MS Office. A background in utilities is desired, but not a requirement. Candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting customers issues in (but not limited to) the following areas: electric, gas, water, waste water, cable, telephone, street and ROW issues, customer billing and service issues. Candidate will take delinquent payments and set up new accounts, dispatch crews in all utility areas including electric and cable outages. Must be willing to work shifts and will be required to fill vacant shifts and work large outage events beyond regular schedule. Candidate will use SCADA to tag electric crews, operate water system and monitor and respond to alarms. Candidate must become familiar with individual departments operating procedures as they relate to URC duties on behalf of said departments. Must become ITS and SCADA certified through MEAG. Candidate will identify individual trouble tickets and the correct completion of each; will identify the different SCADA screens, including correct interpretation of the data shown on each; will collect and copy reports for the different departments; will read electric distribution maps and the individual feeder designations enabling the operator to tag crews to correct feeders according to their locations.
