BROADBAND INSTALLER APPRENTICE, CNSNEXT

Candidate must be able to perform new cable installations from the system tap to the customer’s equipment interface. This includes aerial/underground drops and inside wiring to customer’s video, telephone and data devices. Candidate must be familiar with the various types of equipment utilized by CNS and customer owned equipment. Candidate must be capable of heavy lifting and ladder climbing to heights greater than 25 feet. Candidate must be capable of troubleshooting and repairing customer problems and be able to take after hour calls on a rotational basis

SENIOR MARKETING ASSOCIATE

The Senior Marketing Associate will assist with developing and implementing marketing plans and communication initiatives for the City of Thomasville, including city utility services such as electric, natural gas, water, wastewater, and solid waste. Also responsible for developing and implementing marketing plans for CNSNext services for Cairo, Camilla, Moultrie, and Thomasville. Assist with developing and implementing marketing plans and communication initiatives for destination marketing. This position also includes assisting with planning and implementing city-wide customer and community functions and working with city departments to identify opportunities for community outreach and public engagement.

Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and/or five years of increasingly responsible marketing experience. The candidate should have highly effective written and verbal communication skills, exceptional organizational skills; the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; the ability to work independently and as a team member.

INFORMATION SPECIALIST, DOWNTOWN & TOURISM DEVELOPMENT

Serves as the main point of contact with visitors and customers – either in person, by phone, or through email inquiries. Greets and helps all visitors and customers; must be knowledgeable about the local area and able to share this information with visitors. Assists customers with purchases, and places re-orders of merchandise to keep the gift shop stocked, manages all inventory through Point-of-Sale system. Maintains the Downtown Dollar registry and inventory. Responsible for the daily deposits, end of day reports, opening and closing of the building, entering in invoices, and scheduling workers for Saturday shifts. Manages inventory of brochures, magazines, and rack cards in both the Visitor’s Center and Mini Welcome Centers. Fills all information requests, prepares Getaway Packages, creates welcome bags, facilitates all ticket sales, and keeps up with tourism data records. Will keep minutes for the Tourism Authority meetings as well as serve as a point of contact. Develops relationships with managers/employees at local business and hotels, working with them to increase tourism to the area. Assist with the annual events, including but not limited to Rose Show and Festival, Victorian Christmas, First Friday Sip and Shops, and other downtown/special events (working weekends and after hours, as needed). Administers applications for the auditorium and amphitheater facility rentals, and any permits related to the office of Downtown and Tourism Development, including Film Ready initiatives and more.

OPERATOR III, WASTEWATER TREATMENT

Employee must have a strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently or as a team member. Must be able to work in inclement weather as well as confined spaces when required. Will be on call after training period. Some Holidays and weekend shifts. Employee must have a Class 3 Wastewater Certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment.

EOP/CDL, WASTEWATER

Candidate will operate equipment such as backhoes, excavator, trenchers, dump truck, vac-con, sewer camera system and pipe fusion equipment. The candidate must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions; knowledge of tools associated with utility systems; respond to emergency calls after hours within 30 minutes; handle on-call duties after training period; read and interpret blueprints; assist in installing, repairing and maintaining sewer mains and lines. Candidate must be able to adapt to working in cold, wet and hot weather.

One year of pipeline construction, equipment operation, plumbing, or related experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Candidate must have a valid Georgia CDL or the ability to obtain one within six months.

POLICE OFFICER, POLICE

The City of Thomasville is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Georgia certification is preferred, though not required. Applicants must be at least 21 before or by graduation from the academy, possess a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license and able to pass a criminal background and physical fitness assessment test to apply.

This position will perform traditional duties, including, patrolling specific districts by foot or automobile, handling public complaints, arresting violators of the law, responding to accidents, issuing the necessary summons or tickets when appropriate, preparing/compiling reports and maintaining police records. Additionally, Thomasville Police Officers are required to participate in Community Oriented Policing programs that will require extensive interaction with the community.

Excellent benefits! Starting pay, for uncertified Police Recruit attending the Georgia Police Academy is $17.45 per hour or annual salary of $38,110. GA Certified Police Officers w/no experience and recruit officer who graduates from the academy starting pay is $18.50 per hour or $40,404. Additional educational incentive pay is $1,500.00 for Associates and $3,000.00 for Bachelor’s degree in related field of work. EOP/CDL, SOLID WASTE

Candidate will be required to operate heavy equipment in all types of weather and conditions. The operator is assigned a route and must meet the equipment and demands of the route. Experience in the operation of Front Loader, Side Loader, Grapple Hook and Roll Off is preferred. All applicants must have a minimum of a Class B CDL license. The candidate is also required to work long hours and on weekends and holidays as needed.

REFUSE COLLECTOR, SOLID WASTE

This position is responsible for collecting and loading refuse into collection vehicles; painting solid waste containers, cleaning solid waste containers and other general labor as required. Employee assists in the disposal operation at the landfill and cleans and services collection vehicles. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and willing to work in adverse weather conditions.

UTILITY SERVICE TECH I, UTILITY SERVICES

Performs a variety of duties pertaining to consumption data collection of gas, water and electric meters to provide monthly readings for utility customers. This includes meter reads, check slips, consumption complaint orders, delinquency cut outs, cut ins and general utility work orders. Position requires weekly on-call rotation within six months of employment.

TREE TRIMMER, ELECTRIC

Candidate will be responsible for tree trimming and removing trees around high voltage lines and equipment. Must have prior tree trimming experience working from aerial devices as well as tree climbing with ropes and tree gaffs. Candidate will be required to assist with line construction and/or storm damage restoration.

ASSISTANT CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, FINANCE

Under the direct guidance and supervision of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), candidate will manage, plan and direct all financial operations for the City which includes Payroll, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Accounting and Grants. Will assist CFO with developing plans for the company’s financial growth by evaluating and managing financial risk; coordinates technical and financial information and communications between the division, other departments, and external agencies regarding accounting, purchasing, accounts payable and grant policies and procedures.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university is required. Management and supervisory experienced preferred. FIREFIGHTER, FIRE RESCUE

Get your start in a challenging new career! Go as far as you want in the fire service! We’ll train you to be a Firefighter and EMT and get you the training, education, and certifications you need to be successful as a career firefighter. Once hired you will attend a Georgia Fire Academy (GFA) class. This ten-week course consists of 425 hours of rigorous training that includes classroom-based lecture and practical skills building sessions. Under minimal supervision, responsible for monitoring and maintaining the corporate infrastructure security through the use and management of various security applications and appliances. The Network Security Analyst responds to and documents security incidents and maintains the highest level of competency in the security field through continued education.

Should have a minimum of an associate degree in a technical field or certificate in cybersecurity with at least 3 to 6 years of experience in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, information security, networking, or related technical field. I.T. SOFTWARE SPECIALIST, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Responsible for providing advanced level support for various applications including GEMS, Tyler Technologies, UBILL/Cogsdale, Cityworks and Laserfiche. Responsible for supporting application implementation and testing. Responsible for being mediator between IT Support and Development Team. Also, responsible for all routine administrative tasks and documentation. Employee will administer system security (i.e., authorization, access, read only, passwords, etc.) for UBILL/Cogsdale, GEMS, Tyler Technology, Cityworks and Laserfiche applications; will provide advanced support for various line of business applications; will lead IT support personnel for application implementation and will maintain support scripts in electronic form.

Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent with a few years of experience in software applications. Associates degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent preferred. Must have good oral and written communication skills and must be able to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.

The Benefits and Wellness Coordinator position assists employees with benefits enrollment and questions, verifies all insurance billing, maintains employee database and files, and ensures compliance with required benefit notices. Employee in this position receives direct supervision from the Human Resources Generalist and is expected to work independently. Employee will administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, and wellness benefits; will conduct benefits orientations; will maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction; will verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs. Resolves administrative problems with the carrier representatives. Employee will coordinate workers' compensation claims with third-party administrator and follow up on claims; will lead a comprehensive wellness program; will assist the HR Manager and CFO in completing benefits reporting requirements; will coordinate, plan and facilitate health and fitness activities and programs for employees. Associates degree in Human Resources or related field is required. Two years of experience in employee benefits administration and SHRM-CP, PHR, or CEBS professional designations preferred. MECHANIC, FLEET SERVICES

The employee is responsible for performing skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of automotive and specialized mechanical equipment. The employee is responsible for diagnosing and executing repairs needed, reporting time and supplies used on each vehicle serviced or repaired, and ordering parts. The work is assigned by means of verbal and written orders and is carried out independently by the employee in accordance with standard practices of the trade.

Duties will include, but not limited to, diagnosing and repairing engines, drive trains, electrical, steering and suspension, braking systems and components. Employee will perform preventative maintenance service and inspections on a variety of city owned vehicles and equipment; will make minor welding repairs and repair defective electrical wiring.

Must have a thorough working knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools and equipment of the mechanic’s trade and/or 2 to 4 years of experience servicing and repairing vehicles and other equipment.

LINEMAN, ELECTRIC

The job requires physical work in weather extremes during times of excessive heat and cold while raining or in icy conditions. The successful candidate will have completed and approved apprenticeship program and have at least five (5) years of experience as a journeyman lineman and possess a valid GA class A CDL. The candidate must be available to work weekends, holidays and evenings and during times of emergencies and certain planned activities. The job requires work on energized power lines both overhead and underground during times of maintenance and construction. Candidate must have knowledge and training in electrical theory as it relates to the electric industry. Must be knowledgeable with overhead and underground transformers and the banking of transformers to provide secondary electrical service to residential, commercial and industrial customers. The candidate must be able to trouble shoot and make repairs to the electric system as needed during times of power outages. The candidate should also be familiar with and have training in proper electric substation operation and control procedures. The job will require the lineman to be on-call for a 24 hour seven (7) day period on a rotational basis with fellow lineman after a six (6) month probationary period.

Candidate must have or be able to obtain class A CDLs within six months. Must have construction experience and knowledge of construction equipment. Must be able to complete paperwork, follow oral and written instructions and be dependable.
