PIPELAYER, WASTEWATER DEPARTMENT

Must have knowledge of pipe installation as well as the use of construction equipment and hand tools; must be able to follow oral and written instructions.

Starting salary is $10.35/hr. Closing date is Friday, February 22nd.

EOP/CDL, WASTEWATER DEPARTMENT

Candidate will operate equipment such as backhoes, excavator, trenchers, dump truck, vac-con, sewer camera system and pipe fusion equipment. The candidate must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions; knowledge of tools associated with utility systems; respond to emergency calls after hours within 30 minutes; handle on-call duties after training period; read and interpret blueprints; assist in installing, repairing and maintaining sewer mains and lines. Candidate must be able to adapt to working in cold, wet and hot weather.

One year of pipeline construction, equipment operation, plumbing, or related experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Candidate must have a valid Georgia CDL or the ability to obtain one within six months.

Starting salary is $12.08/hr. Closing date is Friday, February 22nd.


LIFT-STATION TECHNICIAN. WASTEWATER DEPARTMENT

Employee will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of lift-stations. Employee must have strong mechanical background. Employee must have CDL license or the ability to obtain license within six months.

Starting salary is $11.18/hr. Closing date is Friday, February 22nd.


GRANTS ADMINISTRATOR

The Grants Administrator will be responsible for securing and having oversight for financial and administrative grants awarded to the City of Thomasville. The Grants Administrator will research and apply for grants in all areas of the City’s operations including but not limited to CDBG, CHIP, housing, infrastructure, special projects, public safety, planning, preservation, etc. This individual must be knowledgeable in compliance issues that govern the receipt and distribution of funds to be used for internal and community projects. Developing relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders and adherence to the organization’s mission is a must. Must become knowledgeable of organization’s history and programs to help identify successful grant funding opportunities.

It is expected that the Grants Administrator will maintain a grants calendar to track proposals, report deadlines and pending grants. Requests for grant research will be executed from a variety of City departments via a tracking system to appropriately record and respond to grant requests.

Must have demonstrated track record for securing grants. Writing samples will be required during the interview process.

Membership in a grants association and related organizations to help locate grants is a must. Certification in grants writing is preferable.

Starting salary is $52,224/yr. Closing date is Friday, March 1st.

PLANNING TECHNICIAN PLANNING

The Planning Technician will assist with community planning, zoning, and public engagement efforts. Will provide technical support to Planning Department staff, customers, and the general public on issues related to planning, zoning, and development; will perform administrative duties for all Planning Department boards including: processing applications, preparing public notices, submitting required legal advertisements, preparing agendas, preparing packets and e-packets, taking meeting minutes and processing board decisions; will perform routine office tasks; will be responsible for paying all bills/invoices for the department and will provide excellent customer service as the first contact between the public and the department.

Candidate should have knowledge of community planning and will actively promote a collaborative and innovative culture. Candidate should have strong organizational and project management skills; should be able to deal courteously and diplomatically with the general public. Candidate will complete tasks with accuracy and a strong attention to detail while consistently meeting deadlines. Must be computer literate and familiar with Windows, MS Office (Publisher, Access, Excel and PowerPoint) and must be willing to learn new computer software (CityWorks, ArcGIS online, etc.).
