Sign Ordinance

The City of Thomasville first began working towards improving the existing sign ordinance in 2014. The process has involved multiple revisions, public planning sessions, and numerous opportunities for public input.

The proposed draft of the sign ordinance reflects public input from the Planning and Zoning Commission, and includes additional modifications and clarifications that were identified by the City Council through further citizen input. The City Council passed the vote on first reading of the final draft of the Thomasville Sign Ordinance during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Monday, March 22, 2021. The second reading is scheduled for the City Council meeting on Monday, April 12, 2021.

The proposed sign ordinance was approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission on October 5, 2020. The proposed sign ordinance has not been adopted by the Thomasville City Council. The existing Sign Ordinance, contained in Article XVI, “SIGN REGULATIONS”, of Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances was modified with a text amendment change that was adopted by the Thomasville City Council on December 14, 2020. This change is available here. However, please be advised that this change is in the process of being formally codified and, as such, is not yet incorporated in the online version of Article XVI, Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances available on Thomasville.org.
