The City of Thomasville is currently accepting applications for the Budget Billing Plan (BBP). Utility bills vary from month to month based on usage, with bills typically being the highest during the extreme temperatures of the winter and summer seasons. The City of Thomasville’s Budget Billing Plan allows customers to pay a levelized monthly amount for utilities to help avoid costly bill fluctuations. The BBP can help customers manage their household utility budgets by averaging annual bills and creating one easy monthly payment that is approximately the same each month.
“The Budget Billing Plan helps customers to minimize the fluctuation in their monthly utility bill when excessive temperatures in the summer and winter impact their monthly usage,” said Melissa Donaldson, Director of Customer Service. “By enrolling in BBP, customers pay a similar amount each month based on the average of their previous 12 months of usage.”
The Budget Billing Plan runs in 12-month periods. At the end of the program year, the customer’s account is reconciled. Any overpayment or underpayment that has accumulated on the account is settled before the next BBP cycle begins. “The City of Thomasville is pleased to offer customers many ways to save on their utility bills,” said Donaldson. “From the BBP to the On-Bill Financing Program, free energy checkups, and beyond, we are always striving for ways to help customers budget smarter and spend wiser.”
To enroll in the Budget Billing Plan, residential utilities customers must have a minimum of 12 months of continuous services and be up to date with all utility accounts and payments. Applications for the plan will be accepted until October 31st. The next opportunity to enroll in the BBP will be April 1, 2022.
