The City of Thomasville’s First Friday Sip and Stroll concert series continues this Friday, September 6th from 6:00- 10:00 pm in downtown Thomasville. This month’s concert features the musical stylings of the Honey Hounds.
Following the 2017 release of their EP “Midnight Magic,” the Honey Hounds have continued to reenergize the soul genre, embodying the rock-n-roll lifestyle while embracing the roots of soul and funk. Balancing between righteousness and the spirituality that surrounds the blues culture, the Honey Hounds have come to represent the resurgence of a genre and the voice of a generation. The Honey Hounds will perform a free concert on The Ritz Amphitheater main stage from 8:00-10:00 pm.
“This month’s First Friday Sip and Stroll theme is Soulful September and we are excited to feature the funky soul sounds of the Honey Hounds,” says Madison Eaton, City of Thomasville event coordinator. “First Friday Sip and Strolls are a great time to bring out the family, grab dinner, and enjoy a free concert.”
Before the concert begins, you’re invited to explore different specials on offer from participating downtown merchants, including extended hours, happy hour specials, and merchandise discounts. Make sure you grab a Sip and Stroll cup and a matching wristband at participating stores so you can sip and stroll with your favorite beer or wine.
The winner of the Shop To It West Jackson Street summer promotion will also be announced on the amphitheater stage at 8:00 pm. The lucky winner will receive $250 Downtown Dollars for shopping at West Jackson Street stores during the summer and posting their selfies on social media with the hashtag #ShopToItWestJack. Also featured in The Ritz Amphitheater that night will be the Thomasville Center for the Arts chalk art competition winners and TCA’s newly unveiled BUGOUT exhibition. This exhibition features the works of Bob Sober and Winston Cornish and is open to the public from 6:00- 7:30 pm.
“Art, music, food, and fun all go hand-in-hand to create the Soulful September experience,” says Eaton. “This delightfully creepy-crawly exhibition is sure to delight visitors and locals alike.”
First Friday Sip and Stroll events are held monthly, March through December, and are always free and open to the public. Participating downtown shops and restaurants will be open late. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a night of music and art at The Ritz Amphitheater. For more information, visit www.thomasvillega.com or call the Visitors Center at 229-228-7977.
