In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it is important to find ways to save time. With this in mind, the City of Thomasville would like to remind customers that they have several different options available when it comes to paying their utility bills.
“We understand that our customers have busy lives, which get even busier this time of year,” said Chelsie Cosby, Customer Experience Liaison, “That’s why we offer our customers several ways to pay their utility bills. Having options allows our customers to select the method that is most convenient for them each month.”
The City of Thomasville accepts online payments using the Utilities Online portal available at Thomasville.org. There is also a mobile app available for both iOS and Android devices. “Our convenient mobile app is available for free in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and can be found by searching for ‘City of Thomasville’,” said Cosby. “You can pay your utility bill on this app and also review your utility usage each month, giving our customers more control over their utilities.”
In addition to Utilities Online and the mobile app, customers have the option to pay by phone through the City of Thomasville’s interactive voice response, or IVR, system. “The IVR system provides prompts for our customers to enter basic account information to successfully complete their transaction,” Cosby said, “Customers can reach the IVR system by calling 227-7001 and then selecting option 2 and then option 1.”
For those who wish to have a more personal interaction, Cosby said that customers are always welcome to make their payments in person at 111 Victoria Place. “We have customer payment representatives on staff Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. who will gladly accept payments both in our office and through our convenient drive through,” said Cosby, “To better accommodate our customers’ busy schedules, the drive through is open until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A convenient after-hours drop box is also available for those who may not be able to get by before our office closes each day.”
Cosby said that customers also have the option to establish a bank draft to pay their account on the due date each month. An application is available online at Thomasville.org to establish this service. “And of course, we also accept traditional payments mailed to our office,” she said.
Understanding the many convenient ways customers can pay their utility bill each month is important so that they do not pay any unnecessary fees that can be charged by a third party provider, Cosby explained. “Unfortunately, there are other websites out there that are not associated with the City of Thomasville that offer to make online payments on behalf of our customers,” she said. “Many of these providers also assess a processing fee, which can be avoided by utilizing one of the many convenient and free options that are available through the City of Thomasville.”
“Each of our customers are unique and have different preferences for how they’d like to pay for their monthly utility services,” Cosby said. “That’s why we offer so many different ways to pay, because we understand that there is not a one-size-fits-all option that is best for everyone. We want our customers to utilize the method that is best for them, while also being mindful that our payment options will always be available at no charge to our customers.”
