FIRST FRIDAY SIP AND STROLL GIVES BACK THIS NOVEMBER Article PhotoWith a massive hurricane and weeks of recovery efforts now behind us, it’s time to come together as a community and celebrate with a night of music, fun, and helping others. “Giving Back” is the theme for the November 2nd First Friday Sip and Stroll. Join us in Downtown Thomasville from 6:00-10:00 p.m. for live music, fun activities and plenty of community spirit.

“Several of our merchants are getting into the theme by incorporating community outreach and hurricane relief efforts,” says April Norton, Director of Main Street and Business Development. “Keep an eye on our website for updates about ways you can participate in giving back at each location.”

From 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., enjoy extended shopping hours with the downtown merchants and grab a bite to eat at one of over 20 amazing downtown restaurants. Beer and wine are permitted with the proper wristband and First Friday cup within the special event area downtown, so ask for yours to go and see what’s happening on the streets.

“We have some very talented performers lined up this month,” says Dustin Infinger, Events Manager for the City of Thomasville. “Dana King, Keil Franklin and Hot Tamale will be stationed throughout the downtown area playing music that will help you leave the busy work week behind and welcome in the weekend. The YMCA will also be at the Ritz Amphitheater from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. hosting some exciting kid’s games, activities, and giveaways, so bring the little ones down early for some fun free activities.”

From 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. the Maggie Valley Band will perform live on the Ritz Amphitheater stage. “This North Carolina mountain trio are bringing their distinctive indie-folk Appalachian sound to Thomasville for a night of unforgettable music that will appeal to multiple generations,” says Infinger.

The City of Thomasville will be collecting essential items on behalf of GEMA (Georgia Emergency Management Agency) to support Hurricane Michael victims in counties with the highest need. “Paper products, cleaning supplies, baby and toddler supplies such as wipes and clothing and non-perishable food items are in the highest demand,” says Infinger. Items will be collected before and during the main stage concert at The Ritz Amphitheater.

Local restaurants are keeping their doors open late so you can grab a quick bite without missing a beat. Kreamkles and Smith Collective have you covered for desert with onsite rolled ice-cream and gourmet Hyppo ice pops.

First Friday Sip and Strolls are free and open to the public. Street bands perform from 6:00-8:00 p.m. throughout downtown, followed by the main stage show in The Ritz Amphitheater from 8:00-10:00 p.m. Keep Thomas County Beautiful has supplied recycling bins for this event, so look for the blue cans when you dispose of your plastic cups.
