Balfour Park

As part of the 2023 Thomasville Parks and Recreation Master Plan, Balfour Park is preparing for renovations to begin November 2026. Community input, gathered from an online survey (September-October 2024), a public visioning charrette (October 12, 2024), and the Parks and Recreation Master Plan were all used to prioritize the future features and programming at Balfour Park and develop a design concept for Phase 1, with assistance from the professional design team from Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. Project priorities include a central pavilion, new restrooms, playground equipment, splash pad, and parking enhancements. The project will be funded through a combination of grants and Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds, including a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant, a Georgia Department of Natural Resources Tire Products Grant for playground surfacing, and an Urban Canopy Grant for landscaping

Because of the renovations taking place at Balfour Park, the Thomasville Dog Park has moved to Cherokee Park.
