Firefighters spend a lifetime learning how to respond and react in a host of life-threatening situations. For them, running toward flames is second nature. CITY ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR PUBLIC DESIGN CHARRETTE ON FUTURE EVENT CENTER

The City of Thomasville is moving forward with plans to transform property acquired in 2013 to a visitor and event center. The property, located at 207 South Dawson Street, is presently occupied by Roses. The first phase of the process to create the downtown event center will begin using a charrette process, giving the opportunity for community involvement in the future design and use of the facility. The City Council recognized a bright, young citizen during Monday’s meeting for being selected as the Georgia Municipal Association District 10 winner for the "If I Were Mayor, I Would..." essay contest. 2015 ANNUAL YOUTH AND SENIOR FISHING RODEO

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Management Section in conjunction with the City of Thomasville, CNS, Thomasville YMCA, Kiwanis Club and Wal-Mart will sponsor the 2015 Fishing Rodeos for youth and senior adults. Both events are free to the public and will be held at Cassidy Road Pond. The youth rodeo will be for kids 15 and under. BUDGET BILLING ENROLLMENT PERIOD NOW OPEN

City of Thomasville Utilities has announced open enrollment for the Budget Billing Program. This program gives utilities customers an additional payment option, which can be helpful during summertime when excessive temperatures may cause increased monthly utility usage. The current enrollment period will end April 30th. CITY TO HOST FENCE DEDICATION CEREMONY AT THE FLIPPER CEMETERY

Thomasville Mayor Max Beverly will host a ceremony March 21st at 11:00 a.m., which will dedicate the newly constructed fence around the historic Flipper Cemetery.
