LANDFILL TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR WEIGHT SCALE REPLACEMENT

The City of Thomasville has announced a temporary change to the Thomasville-Thomas County Municipal Solid Waste Landfill’s Saturday operating hours. On Saturday, May 15th, the landfill will be temporarily closed to the public in order to replace its weight scales. “Replacing the weight scales that are currently in use will allow us to continue to provide excellent service to our customers,” said Lee Thomas, Assistant Solid Waste and Landfill Superintendent. “Our scales have been...

CITY OF THOMASVILLE ANNOUNCES OPERATIONAL CHANGES TO LANDFILL

The City of Thomasville has announced operational changes to the Thomasville-Thomas County Municipal Solid Waste Landfill. Effective January 1, 2021, the landfill, located at 88 County Landfill Road, will operate from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturdays. LANDFILL EXPANSION NEARS COMPLETION

An expansion of the Thomasville/Thomas County Municipal Solid Waste Landfill is nearing completion at the nearly 600-acre land parcel. CITY COUNCIL APPROVES LANDFILL AGREEMENT

At its regular meeting on September 14, 2020, the Thomasville City Council unanimously approved an amended and restated Solid Waste Disposal Facility Agreement with Thomas County. The 50-year amended agreement will be effective on October 1, 2020. “The amended facility agreement clearly defines the land usage, operations, and finances of the approximately 600-acre land parcel where the Thomasville/Thomas County Landfill is located,” said Alan Carson, City Manager. “The changes to...
