CITY RECOVERS FROM HURRICANE HERMINE

THOMASVILLE, GA – September 2, 2016 – Hurricane Hermine barreled through North Florida and Southwest Georgia, leaving numerous downed trees and thousands without power. THOMASVILLE, GA – September 1, 2016 – The National Weather Service has predicted that Tropical Storm Hermine will move through Thomasville and is expected to bring thunderstorms to our region, beginning late Thursday and continuing into the overnight hours into Friday morning. CITY AWARDS CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF AMPHITHEATER

The Thomasville City Council awarded a contract Monday evening during their regular work session to CCH Construction of Thomasville for the construction of an amphitheater and trailhead. CITY PREPS FOR GDOT WORK ON U.S. 84

Thomasville is the target for two road projects by the Georgia Department of Transportation. While work is progressing now for U.S. 19, a similar U.S. 84 project is slated to begin this fall that will involve resurfacing the roadway in its entirety within the Thomasville city limits. MOTORISTS URGED TO 'MOVE OVER' FOR UTILITY WORKERS

Last April, Governor Nathan Deal signed into law a measure that extends an existing requirement for drivers to ‘move over’ one lane when emergency vehicles are in use to also include utility workers and vehicles. Eight-year-old Ryshaad L. Harrison is a hero to his family. Recently, a small fire broke out in the home of his grandmother, Diedryz Clark.
